FAQs

Why is this protein coffee a little bit harder to mix than other brands?

Most of the whey protein on the market either contains sunflower lecithin or soy lecithin. This additive makes the whey mix into water very quickly. We used a whey that doesn’t contain any additives and therefore takes a couple of extra seconds to mix in. The quickest way to mix this product is by taking it or using a frother. It will still mix in with a spoon but may take a bit longer.

Can it be mixed with milk?

To increase the protein content or enhance the creamy mouthfeel, the product can be mixed with milk instead of water.

Can this be consumed hot or cold?

This product can be consumed both hot and cold. To consume hot simply add hot water to the mix instead of cold water.

Why does each flavor have a different serving size?

Each flavor has a slightly different serving size to ensure that each flavor contains 10g of protein.

Why does the product foam?

When the product is mixed, air bubbles are incorporated into the product – the protein in combination with instant coffee stabilizes these air bubbles creating a foam on top of the beverage.

Why does the product settle?

We don’t add any extra or unnecessary ingredients to keep the ingredient suspended in water for long periods of time. We suggest swirling the cup as you drink to keep the ingredients suspended.

What's the Difference Between Plant and Dairy Proteins?

Protein needs can look different for everyone, which is why we offer products made with both dairy-based and plant-based proteins. Each source has unique characteristics, nutritional profiles, and benefits. Dairy-based proteins, such as whey protein and milk protein concentrate (now found in our Protein Coffee's), are complete proteins that naturally contain all nine essential amino acids. They’re well known for their high bioavailability and smooth texture, and they blend easily into beverages. Whey is fast-digesting, while milk protein concentrate provides a slower, more sustained release of amino acids, making dairy proteins a popular choice for muscle support and satiety. Plant-based proteins, including pea, hemp, and pumpkin seed proteins (found in a variety of our Protein creamer, Instant Latte and Bars), are derived from whole food plant sources. These proteins offer a naturally dairy-free option and provide a range of amino acids along with additional nutrients like fiber, healthy fats, and phytonutrients. By combining multiple plant proteins, we create a more balanced amino acid profile while maintaining a smooth, approachable taste. Both protein types can support active lifestyles and everyday nutrition. Whether someone prefers dairy-based or plant-based protein often comes down to personal taste, dietary preferences, and individual wellness goals, not one being better than the other!

Why do we use Monk Fruit as a Natural Sweetener?

Compared to some zero-calorie sweeteners, monk fruit has a smoother, more sugar-like taste especially when thoughtfully blended in coffee. This small melon, native to Southeast Asia, delivers smooth sweetness with zero sugar and zero calories thanks to naturally occurring compounds called mogrosides. It helps keep our protein coffee balanced and coffee-forward, with a pleasant taste and no blood-sugar spikes from cane sugar or syrups.

Reviews

I think directions are wrong.

"I think directions are wrong. 4 TABLESPOONS seems like way too much! I tried that much with 8 oz of water and I couldn’t get it mix - just muddy clump in the bottom of my mug. 4 teaspoons maybe?"

— Julie O. (1/5)

A powerhouse

"My hope was to kick up the protein in my breakfast… this product ( one of many Laird brands that I use daily) has little flavor, but is a source of creaminess. I recommend it highly!"

— Robert K. (5/5)

Too gritty

"I cant get past the texture. I have tried it hot, cold, with a frother, with a shaker. None of the methods yields a drink that doesn't make me gag. The gritty thick texture is so hard to drink! My husband & i threw away the bag after multiple different unsuccesful trials."

Delicious protein coffee - I

"Delicious protein coffee - I just wish it was in a bigger size"

— Tammi B. (5/5)

Please fix

"Very unhappy with this. Wish I would have read reviews first. This hardly dissolves at all, even with hot water. The texture makes it gross to drink. Super upset I wasted $20. The idea is amazing but definitely should have tested more before putting this in stores."

— Haley S. (1/5)

Protein coffee Vanilla

"I love adding to my coffee as it gives me more energy to do what I love in the gym and getting through the day. The ingredients are all clean and healthy 🌅"

— Karen L. (5/5)

A bit dismayed. Sorry.

"Wish I could give it a thumbs up but can't. It is gritty and not much of a coffee flavor. I blended it hoping to remove the grittiness but it didn't. Not throwing it out though, adding about a tablespoon to my regular coffee."

— Rose F. (3/5)

Protein coffee

"Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. The vanilla latte with coffee, creamer and functional mushrooms is 5 stars all day."

— Timothy D. (3/5)

Disappointed

"Tastes good but kinda gritty/chalky. It does not dissolve well at all, even in super hot water, even when I stir the devil out of it. I tried both by hand and with the frother and I am always left will a big mess of sludge in the bottom of the cup that I have to waste. Love the idea but doesn't execute well."

— CJ (2/5)

Tasty

"I read the reviews and I am so happy that I ordered this. I am truly enjoying it!! I have several ways that I use it and I've been very happy with how it dissolves, mixes well, and tastes great!!"
