Laird Superfood in the Sisters High School Kitchen

Laird Superfood is making a positive impact in our local Sisters, OR community by spending some time in the classroom.
We had the unique opportunity to document the making of a recipe that swapped out a key ingredient for one of our own Laird Superfood products.
Teacher TR McCrystal, is a former culinary entrepreneur and local restaurant owner with more than thirty years experience. He is passionate about working with students to bring new recipes to life.The program offers the opportunity to explore the culinary arts in a creative hands-on environment while giving students real life skills in the kitchen.
“My inspiration comes from observing my students becoming inspired. Whether Culinary Arts or some other activity, being part of the process that sparks passionate learning is the best reward.”
McCrystal made it his mission to incorporate whole food ingredients into his lesson plan by adding Laird Superfood products to the mix. He decided to task his class with a peanut butter cookie recipe and include a dry milk alternative. The answer was simple, Laird Unsweetened Superfood Creamer. The result was a delicious take on a classic peanut butter cookie recipe.
“Looking forward, I hope to create more opportunities for students to apply what they are learning by working with our community partners. There are so many options and paths for students to take, I want students to experience as many as possible in order to be able to make a choice that best fits them and their goals.”
